We played a gig at Webster Hall in New York,
and my tech at the time showed up with a Peavey
Cirrus, the five-string. I'd never really
felt comfortable with any five-string; I always
felt it was a very unforgiving instrument, like I
needed to go work out at the gym before I used it.
When he showed up with this Peavey, first thing,
I was blown away by the finish, the tiger
stripe. I couldn't believe it. My first bass amplifier
was a Peavey, in '81, but that was a long time ago and I hadn't
made the connection for instrumentation. And, of course,
it plays like a dream. It's a beauty.
The range of tones is just fantastic. I just started using it from
day one. Then, after we went back into the studio after our
British tour, we recut a lot of the record, and I used the
Cirrus on all of it.
