Nashville, Tenn.Victor Wooten is known for tracking bass with artists such as Bela Fleck, but few know that he's also an avid outdoorsman and wildlife tracker. The virtuosic bassist combines his passions for both in his Bass/Nature Camp, which Peavey recently sponsored.
Held 40 miles west of Nashville in Montgomery Bell State Park, the six-day Bass/Nature Camp strives to inspire musicians through the tranquility of the forest. Wooten balances musical instruction with survival skills such as how to build a fire, make an emergency shelter, find food and water and track wildlife. The camp also features nightly performances and discussions on the relationship between music and nature.
Camp instructorsfellow renowned bassist Steve Bailey among themand attendees used Peavey MicroBass™ practice amplifiers for the camp's musical instruction sessions, and even raffled one at the end of the camp. Calvin Sheffield, the winner, took home the popular 20 Watt amplifier.
