Peavey Announces 40th Anniversary Concert

Acclaimed roots-rock group Son Volt will headline "Home for the Holidays: A Peavey 40th Anniversary Concert" on December 2 in the musical-instrument and sound-equipment company's hometown of Meridian, Mississippi."Home for the Holidays" will benefit the Meridian Downtown Association and celebrate all Peavey employees as well as the company's contributions to Meridian during its first 40 years. Peavey has partnered with the Meridian Downtown Association and local independent radio station 103.3 WZKR-FM to promote the concert, which will be held in Singing Brakeman Parka pastoral plot adjacent to Union Station named for Jimmie Rodgers, the famed "Singing Brakeman" and father of country music. Son Volt's frontman and founder, Jay Farrar, is known for his unique style of music. As chief visionary and songwriter for Americana forebears Uncle Tupelo, he forged a roots-rock style that he later honed on three acclaimed Son Volt albumsincluding 1995's Trace, which spawned the hit single "Drown." After releasing three mostly acoustic solo albums, Farrar regrouped the band in 2005 with Okemah & the Melody of Riot. Opening for Son Volt will be singer/songwriter Willie Heath Neal, who takes the stage at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
