Peavey has joined Object 9 in promoting http://www.postkatrinatalent.org, a web site that connects hurricane-displaced marketing and creative arts professionals with potential employers. PostKatrinaTalent.org is a free web-based resume posting resource that allows marketing, advertising, public relations and other creative professionals to create a personal web page that potential employers can view. The web site is designed to help out-of-work victims in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Alabama. Object 9, a nationally recognized marketing and design firm based in Baton Rouge, La., created the web site to aid the Gulf Coast region's creative community shortly after Hurricane Katrina left its shores. Peavey is based in Meridian, Miss., where Katrina wrought damage as a category-one hurricane. The company was unable to open for four days due to power outages and blocked roadways, but rallied to full output by September 2. An independent corporation, Peavey employs 1,200 and has operated out of Meridian since Hartley Peavey established the company in 1965. "The Peavey Revolution," a new biography published by Backbeat Books and available now, chronicles Hartley's impact on how we hear music and his myriad innovations during the first 40 years of Peavey. As previously noted, Peavey has also pledged 10% of revenues from its PV(R) Series musical instrument and microphone cable sales to the Mississippi Red Cross for its Katrina relief operations. This best-selling accessory line includes more than 40 products.
